National Women’s Political Caucus Foundation  Grants Program 

Impact Statement


The impact of the National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC) Foundation  Grants Program has provided opportunities for Caucuses to expand on the national, state, and local level. The primary mission of the NWPC Foundation Grants Program is to engage local and state caucuses in membership development, through programs that develop caucus growth, formation of new caucuses, expansion of education through candidate training, and women’s conferences, and advance the dissemination of knowledge on women’s issues. NWPC Grants program positively impacts much welcomed shared efforts with National to recruit, train, and support women running for office. These programs were especially needed due to the downturn of the pandemic which created a lull in activities. The NWPC Foundation Grants provided women an opportunity for community engagement through local programs and activities while preparing women to understand the demands of the future. 

RELEVANT INFO:

In 2021, two Grantees received NWPC Foundation grants. In California, NWPC-South Bay CA received a grant for their Education and Training Series. This Training series expanded upon women’s issues and also featured a social media training session to highlight the importance of social media in modern campaigns.

In Texas, NWPC Hays Co TX received funds for their Campaign Skills Training with WOC emphasis. A training program designed to highlight women of color in the political spectrum and learn more about approaching diverse constituents on the campaign trail.

In 2022, three Grantees received NWPC Foundation grants. In Missouri, NWPC Missouri received a grant for their “NWPC Spirit Online” program.

"Spirit Online" is a program that is designed to bring together women from the rural areas of Missouri.  St. Louis, Jefferson City/Columbia, and Kansas City have active National Women's Political Caucus groups with easy access for those who reside there.

NWPC Spirit Online seeks to reach out to women in rural areas where caucuses are not viable and to provide many of the resources that "in-person" caucuses have.
In Tennessee, the Middle Tennessee Women's Political Caucus received funds for their Project: Educate, Empower, & Engage: Tennessee Women’s Day on the Hill.

A day-long event that educated, empowered, and engaged over 75

Tennessean women from 15 counties in social justice advocacy.

In California, NWPC CA provided training at their Campaign Training and Cohort Development Program (NWPCCA's Women Who Lead Program). A program dedicated to increasing women’s participation in the political process and creating a true women’s political power base to achieve equality for all women.

In 2023, four Grantees received NWPC Foundation grants: 

1) NWPC-LDERF received funds for their Train the Trainer/Campaign Skills Training at the Convention.

  • An event aiming to provide skills aimed at coaching trainers themselves and sharing viable skills for the candidate on the trail.

2) In California, NWPC Pomona-Inland Empire CA

  • Received a grant for their Women’s Conference on Leadership for PIE area women. An empowering day with Keynote Speaker, Jenica Morin; a Panel Discussion on "Women In Politics"; 

3) NWPC South Carolina provided training for their Campaign Skill Training/New Chapter Development.

  • South Carolina is in the process of creating a much-needed new chapter in the state. To promote pro-choice candidates in the political field.

4) NWPC MO received funds for their Project:  Youth Ambassador Program (in conjunction with NWPC-STL and GKCWPC) to develop young leaders at NWPC.

  • The Ambassador Program is an opportunity for pro-choice women ages 18-25 to participate in an established, local non-profit grassroots organization that is dedicated to ensuring the education and election of pro-choice women candidates in local, State Representative, and State Senate races.

  • NWPC-STL Ambassadors will:

-Assist in social media outreach

-Propose student/young adult-friendly events

-Serve as liaison to student groups/networks

-Participate in 2-3 NWPC-STL events

Benefits of the Ambassador Program include:

-Eligibility for mentorship programs

-Relationship building with current and past elected officials at all levels of state and local government

-Recognition on NWPC-STL website/social media

In this era of post Supreme Court elimination of federal constitutional rights to abortion, NWPC is taking every step to get pro-choice candidates elected to office. NWPC FOUNDATION GRANTS AND THEIR IMPACT
